ELLSWORTH — Two training series will be offered by Hospice Volunteers of Hancock County starting mid-April.
A hospice patient care volunteers training will be held at the hospice office on Thursdays, April 12 through June 7, from 3:30-7 p.m. This training costs $75.
A bereavement training for professionals (clergy, social workers, medical personnel, and others who serve people who may be grieving) training will be held at the hospice office on Wednesdays, April 18 through May 23, also from 3:30-7 p.m. This training costs $150.
Both of these trainings are comprehensive, providing education, skills-enhancement and personal and professional development. Each session focuses on a topic related to hospice and/or grief, including life-limiting illness, communication skills, family dynamics under stress, spirituality in end-of-life, supporting caregivers and/or support group facilitation, plus many others. Hospice Volunteers of Hancock County volunteers are well-supported in their roles by a large network of colleagues.
“Good information, great discussion and space for sharing ideas,” said a recent participant in the professionals training series. “I appreciated that we had time for interactive discussions as I always find that helpful in retaining and processing the important material being presented.”
The training programs require an application and pre-training interview, so the deadline for applying is April 6. Call 667-2531 or visit www.hospiceofhancock.org.
