SOUTHWEST HARBOR — Acadia Family Center (AFC) presents its annual Hike and Bike for Mike fundraiser September 10-18. Participants log miles hiked or cycled, collect pledges or donations and post photos to Facebook.
“Mike” represents everyone who is affected, directly or indirectly, by mental health, substance abuse and addiction. “Mike” is a significant presence in our community. “With Hike and Bike for Mike we are choosing to be vocal about our support for recovery so that ‘Mike’ can hear us and know that she or he is not alone,” an organizer said.
Registration is $25; kids under 12 participate free. AFC will host a Summit Celebration at 5 p.m. Sept. 18 at its Southwest Harbor facility to wrap up the weeklong event. Prizes will be awarded for most miles hiked, most miles biked, most photos posted to AFC’s Facebook page and most money raised.
Proceeds benefit AFC, which provides prevention, education and counseling services for adolescents, adults and family affected by substance abuse, chemical dependency and related mental health disorders.
