Helicopter evacuation

ACADIA NAT’L PARK — A 47-year-old woman from Rutherford, N.J., was evacuated from cliffs at Monument Cove along the Ocean Drive in Acadia National Park on Aug. 31 after she fell 35 feet to the rocks below around 3 p.m.

Park rangers, members of Mount Desert Island Search and Rescue, and paramedics from the Bar Harbor Fire Department assisted in the effort.

The woman was taken by LifeFlight helicopter ambulance directly to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor for treatment of multiple injuries.
