There’s a lot to howl about this Halloween.

 

Friday, Oct. 30

 

BAR HARBOR — The MDI YMCA, 21 Park St., will host a free Family Halloween Party featuring games, activities, crafts and costume contests from 5:30-7 p.m.

Saturday, Oct. 31

 

BAR HARBOR — Acadia Veterinary Hospital is holding its annual Community Pets and People Halloween Party at 21 Federal St. from 1-2:30 p.m.

It’s always fun to see the creative and hilarious costumes, but this year, more games and prizes have been added. Refreshments will be served, photos take and prizes awarded for best pet costume at this free event.

BAR HARBOR — All children are welcome to trick or treat at the Sonogee Rehab and Living Center, 151 Eden St., from 3-5 p.m.

MOUNT DESERT — The Somesville Library will celebrate Halloween by giving out free books and ghoulish goodies from 4-7 p.m.

 

TREMONT — The Bass Harbor Memorial Library will be open for trick-or-treaters from 4-8 p.m. Visit the library for a free book, treats, warm drinks and spooky community cheer.

 

SOUTHWEST HARBOR — Trick or treating for books will take place at the Southwest Harbor Public Library, 338 Main St., from 5-7 p.m.

SOUTHWEST HARBOR — A costume contest party will take place at the Dockside Inn from 7-10 p.m.

BAR HARBOR — A special late performance of “The Rocky Horror Show,” one of two on Halloween, is set for 11 p.m. at the Criterion Theatre.

The collaboration between the theater and the Barn Arts Collective will be preceded by an audience warm-up at 10:30 p.m. Each member of the audience will get a “goodie bag” filled with the props they need to become a part of the action.

Other performances are scheduled for 8 p.m. on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Oct. 29, 30 and 31, with a warm-up before each performance. Tickets are $20 for balcony and platinum seating, $15 for orchestra seating and $10 for students and seniors.
