Halloween candy sought

BAR HARBOR — Candy is being collected at Hannaford to distribute on Ledgelawn Avenue on Halloween.

A candy collection box will be near the checkout at Bar Harbor Hannaford until Oct. 29. Then volunteers will distribute candy to residents who plan to give it to the 900-1,000 kids on Halloween who trick or treat on Ledgelawn Avenue each year. The street attracts children from all over Hancock County on Halloween, earning it the nickname “Halloween Street.”

Many residents go to great lengths to decorate their properties for the holiday.

Residents will be given a hang tag and are encouraged to display the notices on their front door on morning of Oct. 29 so organizers will know who plans to give out candy so they can distribute the donations.
