BAR HARBOR — Following his re-election to the Town Council last week, Gary Friedmann was elected chair at a special organizational meeting on June 13. Councilor Matt Hochman was elected vice-chair, the position Friedmann held previously.

Joe Minutolo is new to the council, having received more votes than Peter St. Germain in last week’s election. St. Germain served on the council for nine years.

“I would also like to thank Peter for his years of service,” Hochman said. “He and I disagreed a lot, and I appreciated those conversations, and I think we were able to move forward because of those conversations.”

Friedmann recognized former council Chair Paul Paradis, who remains on the council. “I want to acknowledge Paul for serving on the council for 12 years,” he said. “There’s a lot of experience and knowledge there that keeps us from having to reinvent the wheel. I’ll ask for your patience as I learn this new job.”
