BAR HARBOR — Free financial literacy seminars through the Mount Desert Island Adult and Community Education program will take place at MDI High School this winter over a three-week period.
The weekly seminars will be held Tuesdays from 6-8 p.m.
The seminar on Tuesday, Feb. 27, covers the basics of savings and investing and answers the question “What is a mutual fund?”
The seminar on Tuesday, March 6, touches on why investors shouldn’t try to predict the market in the first part. The second part will help participants learn to understand mutual fund portfolio statistics.
The seminar on Tuesday, March 13, will focus on important financial challenges and protection from identity theft.
The seminar on Tuesday, March 20, will take a closer look at Social Security benefits.
