MOUNT DESERT — Four candidates are running for three seats on the Board of Selectmen in the May 1 election.
Board Chairman John Macauley and former Selectman Rick Mooers have filed for the two three-year terms that are up for election. Selectman Dennis Shubert, whose term is up this spring, is not running for re-election.
Selectman Gordon Beck and Wendy Littlefield are vying for a single two-year term. Beck was appointed to the board in January following the resignation of Brian Reilly, who was elected last May.
Charlie Wray is unopposed in his bid for another three-year term on the Mount Desert Elementary School Committee.
Heather Jones, who was appointed last year to fill a vacant seat on the Mount Desert Island High School Trustees Board, has filed for election to a three-year term. Jim Bright is not seeking another term as one of Mount Desert’s three trustees. That leaves a two-year term that could be filled by a write-in candidate. The high school trustees are responsible for the school’s buildings and grounds.
Last Friday, March 17, was the filing deadline for elective offices in Mount Desert.
