BAR HARBOR — Jenny Jones was recently hired by the board of directors of the Bar Harbor Food Pantry to oversee operations at the pantry and Serendipity, the clothing resale shop that raises money for the organization. She also will lead community fundraising efforts and raise awareness of hunger in our communities.
Jones graduated from College of the Atlantic in 2005 and received her master’s in environmental education with a minor in program evaluation in 2012 from the University of Minnesota.
Since then, she has been dedicated to working in nonprofits and building community relationships. She returned to Mount Desert Island in 2014 to serve as program director at Camp Beech Cliff and was most recently working as a title 1 ed. tech. at Trenton Elementary School.
“I am very excited to join the Bar Harbor Food Pantry as executive director,” said Jones. “I am dedicated to serving this wonderful community, especially those who are in need.”
She is looking forward to meeting and working with all of the committed volunteers at both the Bar Harbor Food Pantry and at Serendipity.
Jones was hired to replace Kate Sebelin, the pantry’s longtime director, who recently accepted a position at Downeast Aids Network. “I will miss the volunteers, clients and customers from the pantry and Serendipity, but I am excited for the next chapter in my career,” said Sebelin.
“It helps knowing that the organization is in such good hands under Jenny’s leadership.”
The Bar Harbor Food Pantry serves more than 300 people from all over Hancock County each month, distributing fresh produce, bread, meat, dairy, eggs, bulk foods such as rice, oats and flour, nonperishable food and household items. Call 288-3375 or email email@example.com.
