TREMONT — The Tremont Consolidated School’s annual ice fishing derby won’t involve fishing this year but still promises to be a good time.
Organizers have deemed ice conditions on local ponds are unsafe for Sunday’s event, but they haven’t cancelled all the proceedings.
A variety of children’s activities are planned for 4-6 p.m. in the school gym. All door and raffle prizes will be awarded. Many of the prizes are specifically for kids, and they’ll be able to win these by catching “fish” from a pool in the gym, according to Mike Hodgdon.
Proceeds from the derby are used for the eighth-grade class trip and for playground improvements.
