Film festival seeks submissions

BUCKSPORT — The International Maritime Film Festival is seeking submissions for its upcoming cinema event.

The International Maritime Film Festival is a juried contest for films, celebrating the heritage, spirit of adventure and ingenuity of boats and waterborne pursuits. The organizers say that the festival “is the premier event for maritime-themed film making.”

Now in its third year, the festival is a joint venture between Main Street Bucksport and WoodenBoat Publications in Brooklin. Screenings will take place in the Alamo Theatre in downtown Bucksport in September. In the months after festival weekend, a collection of the winners will be offered to venues worldwide.

Subjects can include voyaging, racing, working, leisure, boatbuilding and restoration, historical documentary, and environment and science.

Submissions may be made online at maritimefilmfestival.com. The entry fee is $50.
