SOUTHWEST HARBOR — Leon Jacobs, 45, of Bangor was arrested Feb. 5 on charges of criminal mischief, a Class C felony.
With an arrest warrant issued by Hancock County District Court, Jacobs was arrested by the Penobscot County Sheriff as a result of an incident in Southwest Harbor.
On Jan. 28, following several reports to police of Jacobs allegedly trespassing and harassing residents the previous day, police received a report of damage to a vehicle at the same property.
“We believe it to exceed $2,000,” said Southwest Harbor Police Chief Alan Brown about the damage.
Property damage of more than $2,000 in a criminal mischief charge makes it a felony.
Once a warrant was issued for Jacobs’s arrest, it is not clear whether he turned himself in to the Penobscot County Jail or was arrested by that county’s law enforcement agency.
Jacobs was released after the arrest and is awaiting an appearance in court.
