Elver numbers

AUGUSTA — Almost all of the total state quota of elvers for the 2020 season had been caught by Sunday evening, according to the Maine Department of Marine Resources. The season closes June 7. 

Just over 9,514 pounds of the 9,688-pounds quota have been reported. The glass eels were sold for a total reported value of $4.98 million, for an average price per pound of $523.
