BANGOR — The average Emera Maine customer on Mount Desert Island will like see a slight decrease in their power bill starting this month.

The average customer with the Standard Offer electricity supply and using 500-kilowatt hours of electricity will pay $90.48 per month, according to a June 27 statement from the company.

Emera spokesperson Judy Long said electricity prices are made up of five components: distribution, transmission, stranded costs, conservation and supply. Emera Maine only provides two of the five components: transmission and distribution.

Last month, Emera raised their distribution rates by 5.3 percent after receiving approval from the Public Utilities Commission.

A typical bill for a residential customer, Long said, might include $31.82 for distribution, $18 for transmission, $3.31 for stranded costs, $1.22 for conservation and $36.13 for Standard Offer supply.
