Rockefeller Farms offers farm-based summer program

BAR HARBOR — Growing Season, a farm-based summer learning program for fifth-eighth grade students, will be offered by the College of the Atlantic’s Peggy Rockefeller Farms twice this July. Farm-based education connects youth to agriculture, community and the environment through hands-on experiential learning.

Offered as a two-week enrichment program, the Growing Season curriculum is interdisciplinary and is aligned with national and state learning standards. Students will choose from a menu of daily activities based on their own unique interests, such as gardening, farm stand management, animal care, collecting eggs, cooking and art projects.

The two sessions run July 6 – July 17 and July 20 – July 31, Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., with optional before and after-care. Each two-week session costs $500, and scholarships are available based on financial need.
