BAR HARBOR — Schools across the Mount Desert Island region will be opening their doors for students in the coming weeks, most on the day after the Labor Day holiday.

They include the Connors Emerson School in Bar Harbor, Mount Desert Elementary School in Northeast Harbor, Pemetic Elementary in Southwest Harbor, the Tremont Consolidated School, Trenton Elementary, Swans Island School, Frenchboro School and the Ashley Bryan School on Cranberry Island.

Teachers are scheduled to begin next week with professional training days in most schools set for Aug. 27 and 28. Swans Island and Frenchboro will also have a professional day on Aug. 26. The only professional day scheduled at the Ashley Bryan School is Aug. 28.

No school will be open on Friday, Aug. 29.
