Islanders celebrate college graduations from Waterville to New Orleans

CANTON, N.Y. — Noelle A. Reilly of Seal Harbor was one of nearly 600 students who received bachelor degrees from St. Lawrence University during commencement ceremonies on May 17.

Reilly, a graduate of Mount Desert Island High School, received the degree of Bachelor of Arts summa cum laude. She majored in anthropology and history.

WOOSTER, Ohio — Mount Desert resident Francesca Cistone received a Bachelor of Arts degree from The College of Wooster during commencement exercises on May 11.

While at Wooster, Cistone was a tour guide in the Office of Admissions, a student coordinator for Scot Saturday, secretary of Inter-Greek Council and a member of the Epsilon Kappa Omicron social club. She also received a Byron Morris Scholarship and was inducted into Phi Alpha Theta history honor society.

A French major with a minor in history, Cistone also attended Saint Stephen’s International School of Rome for two years.

NEWTON, Mass. — Grace Tweedie of Bar Harbor received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Lasell College during commencement exercises in May. Tweedie majored in Graphic Design.

WATERVILLE — Mount Desert Island area residents were among 483 seniors who graduated from Colby College in Waterville on May 24, receiving bachelor of arts degrees at the College’s 194th Commencement. Iconic actor and filmmaker Robert Redford was the guest speaker.

Molly B. Hodgkins of Trenton is the daughter of Michael Hodgkins and Kimberly Bunker-Hodgkins of Trenton and a graduate of Mount Desert Island High School. Hodgkins majored in psychology.

Catherine S. Sharp of Mount Desert is the daughter of Martin and Rachael Sharp of Mount Desert and a graduate of Mount Desert Island High School. Sharp majored in biology.

Colby is home to a community of 1,850 dedicated and diverse students from around the globe. Its Waterville location provides access to world-class research institutions and civic engagement experiences.

New Orleans, La. — Michael Watkins of Bar Harbor graduated from Tulane University on May 16 with a master’s degree in public health from the School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine.
