Pemetic budget change

SOUTHWEST HARBOR — The proposed $3.5 million budget for the Pemetic Elementary School will be about $35,000 less than expected.

The change, according to Town Manager Don Lagrange, is due to health insurance costs for employees coming in much lower than anticipated.

As a result, school articles headed to the May town meeting warrant must reflect the change. Selectmen Monday tabled action until the Warrant Committee can make changes in its recommendations.

Selectmen are recommending the budget pass as proposed; the Warrant Committee wants nearly $174,000 cut, which would essentially flat-fund the school at the this year’s level.
