BAR HARBOR — National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day will take place is Saturday, April 29, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and area police departments are participating.
Police departments in Bar Harbor, Mount Desert, Southwest Harbor and Bucksport have drug drop boxes in their lobbies. Community members are encouraged to bring in any unused, unwanted or expired prescription drugs for this free, anonymous service.
In addition, there is a new prescription drop box on the campus of Blue Hill Memorial Hospital, located in the lobby of the Sussman Medical Building. All boxes are accessible during regular business hours and some are accessible 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Drop boxes cannot take needles, epinephrine pens or other sharps.
The Ellsworth Chamber of Commerce on High Street will also be collecting unused medications on Saturday in partnership with the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office, the Ellsworth Police Department, Healthy Acadia and the chamber of commerce.
