ACADIA NATIONAL PARK — A Massachusetts rental car ended up in a drainage bed at the Blue Hill Overlook parking lot atop Cadillac Mountain in Acadia National Park on Sunday morning.

According to rangers, a visitor parked some distance away and left the vehicle unattended, in reverse, with the engine running. With no one inside, the Toyota SUV backed out of a space, swung around 180 degrees, and went over the bank. A tow truck driver from Island Auto Repair was able to extricate the vehicle with virtually no damage to the undercarriage, rangers said.
