Dead trees to be removed

ACADIA NAT’L PARK — Dead trees on the hillside above Sargeant Drive, including some killed by red pine scale over the past few years, will be removed between mid-February and mid-May to keep them from falling onto the power line or roadway.

Cutting of the “hazard trees” will occur between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. on weekdays, with traffic occasionally reduced to one lane. Tree removal will occur along a 1.2-mile section of Sargeant Drive, which runs along the east side of Somes Sound.
