Cruise to fight against cancer

BAR HARBOR – Bar Harbor Rotarian Nancy Corliss has focused her talents on fundraising against cancer after it struck her own family. For three years, Corliss has organized the Fill a Boat for Stand up To Cancer cruise event, this year scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 20.

Corliss teamed up with Capt. Gary Fagan of Acadian Nature Cruises.

“He said, ‘Fill a boat,’” Nancy recalls. “I said, ‘What?’ And he said, ‘Fill my boat.’”

So they did. For the past three years, Fagan has donated a 100-passenger boat for a two-hour cruise around Frenchman Bay. People buy tickets, listen to music, look at the fall foliage and seals, all while helping to fight against cancer. All of the proceeds go to Stand Up To Cancer-Team Joyful Hope.

The trip boards at the Atlantic Oceanside Hotel pier at 4 p.m. There will be lots of food. It is BYOB. A rock and roll band will perform.

You can call 288-3334 to reserve space or check out the Facebook event page at Fill a Boat For Stand Up To Cancer.
