Council takes show on road

BAR HARBOR — The Town Council is set to host its regular meeting Tuesday, May 3, at the Town Hill Village Improvement Society Hall as part of an outreach effort to neighborhoods outside of downtown.

The meeting is set to begin at 6 p.m. for citizen comments. “The agenda will be tailored to the interests or concerns of the Town Hill area residents,” a postcard invitation sent to Town Hill residents earlier this month said.

Town Manager Cornell Knight said he had received requests for discussion of the downtown parking plan, broadband network and the transfer station.

The agenda for the meeting will be available on the town website beginning Friday.

“It’s an opportunity for folks in that neighborhood to ask questions,” council Chair Paul Paradis said. “We used to do this many years ago,” and the current council decided it was time to revisit the program.

The council plans future meetings in Salisbury Cove and Hulls Cove, Knight said. No dates or locations have been determined.

Because equipment used to record and broadcast council meetings is not portable, these off-site meetings will not be recorded or broadcast.
