SOUTHWEST HARBOR — Police here continue their crackdown on seat belt scofflaws as part of the nationwide Click It or Ticket campaign. Thirteen drivers were summonsed between May 22 and Saturday, May 24.
Summonsed for alleged seatbelt violations were: Chandler Kelley Jr., 65, Tremont; Donald Lodge, 69, Southwest Harbor; Joseph Cannino, 23, Trenton; Wayde Strout, 39, Tremont; Benjamin Prows, 30, Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; Richard Sprague, 57, Lamoine; Laurie Ward, 42, Southwest Harbor; Irene Menzietti, 42, Tremont; Barry Archilles, 56, Tremont; Charlie Dillon, 71, Tremont; Michael Conners, 30, Tremont; Derek Lanpher, 26, Southwest Harbor; and Maynard Young, 36, Tremont.
Police said drivers are responsible for passengers wearing seatbelts and can be charged $70 for each person not in compliance with the law.
Bar Harbor Police participating in “click-it or ticket” issued more than 35 seatbelt warnings but wrote just one summons. Matthew Vincent, 37, of Ellsworth, was summonsed May 23 on Maine Street on a charge of not wearing a seatbelt.
