Lamoine standoff results in arrest

LAMOINE — The Maine State Police arrested a Lamoine man Thursday after a standoff on Needles Eye Road, according to information provided by Stu Marckoon, the town of Lamoine’s administrative assistant.

James Day Sr., 48, allegedly threatened family members and fired a rifle inside of his home, Marckoon said.

The state police, Hancock County Sheriff’s deputies, the Maine Marine Patrol and the Maine Warden Service responded.

Officers were able to talk with Day by telephone and he eventually came out of his home and surrendered without incident.

Day was taken to the Hancock County Jail and charged with domestic violence criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon and violating conditions of his release.

Day was still incarcerated Friday morning.
