Island police: Underage drinkers busted

BAR HARBOR — Police responding to a noise complaint on Glen Mary Road Friday busted up a drinking party and issued a number of summonses for underage drinking.

Nicholas Dupont, 20, was summonsed on a charge of furnishing a place for minors to consume alcohol. Summonsed on charges of illegal possession of liquor by a minor were Xochitl Ortiz Ross, 20, Benjamin Goldberger, 18, Kendall Cook, 19, and Katerina Thongdara, 18. A substantiated disorderly house violation notice was issued to the owners of the house, Ross and Ross LLC.

Jonathan Kidder, 28, of Hancock was arrested Saturday on a charge of assault after police responded to a report of a fight at the Dog and Pony Tavern.

A traffic accident at the corner of Route 102 and Gilbert Farm Road on Sunday resulted in one driver being taken to the hospital for neck pain. Derek Benson, 22, of Southwest Harbor was driving a 2007 Dodge Dakota, which was involved in a collision with a 2002 Subaru Legacy driven by Gary Churchill, 53, of Bar Harbor. Both vehicles were towed from the scene. Firefighters spread an absorbent material to help soak up antifreeze that was leaking onto the ground.

Officer Larry Fickett helped a motorist change a flat tire on Route 3 on Sept. 30. Officer Dustin Tierney helped a motorist change a tire on the same road on Sept. 2.

Erika Sargent, 24, of Mount Desert was arrested Friday on a warrant for failure to appear to pay a court fine.

A resident reported Friday that a bag containing personal items was taken from their vehicle while they were parked at a Cottage Street business.

Robert Keck, 59, of Bar Harbor was arrested Friday on a charge of operating while under the influence (OUI).

Several residents called police this week to report that they had received scam phone calls about being sued by the Internal Revenue Service.

Sergeant Shaun Farrar shot and killed an injured deer along Route 3 on Sunday.

Jamin Keene, 19, of Bar Harbor was arrested on an outstanding warrant after turning himself in at the police station on Monday.

William Baggett, 67, of Bar Harbor was arrested Monday at a Gilbert Farm Road residence on a charge of domestic assault.

Officer Tim Bland helped a driver retrieve a tote full of fish that had fallen from a truck onto West Street Extension Oct. 2.

Firefighters doused a fire in a trash can on Firefly Lane near the village green on Sunday.

Mount Desert

Officer Ryan Lawson responded to a report of a suspicious noise at a home in Somesville on Oct. 1. He determined that the source of the noise was a child who was upset about a parent leaving for work.

Timothy Wiggins, 32, of Frenchboro was summonsed on a charge of operating after suspension on Oct. 3.

A 2012 Dodge Caravan driven by Emmanuel Young, 67, of Corea struck a deer on Route 198 on Oct. 3, causing an estimated $1,200 in damage to the vehicle. The driver was not injured.

A 2013 Ford Focus driven by Alexander Lauterburg, 27, a visitor from Switzerland, sustained an estimated $2,000 in damage when it backed into a coping stone on Harborside Drive on Oct. 4.

John Dickey, 55, of South Hamilton, Mass., was arrested on a charge of OUI on Oct. 5. He also was charged with speeding, sale and use of drug paraphernalia, possession of a useable amount of marijuana and operator possession of an alcoholic beverage container on a public way. He was taken to the Hancock County Jail, where he reportedly refused an alcohol breath test.
