Island Police: Teens charged in theft



TRENTON — Two teens are facing charges after they allegedly stole jewelry from a residence and allegedly sold it to an area pawn shop.

As a result the investigation into a Dec. 20 theft report, Austin Hamilton, 18, of Ellsworth and a 16 year old from Franklin were charged with theft.

Minor damage was reported in a two-vehicle collision Saturday at the intersection of Route 3 and the Oak Point Road.

Steven Bunker, 21, of Trenton was making a left turn onto the Oak Point Road when his 2002 GMC pickup struck the driver’s side of a 2013 Subaru driven by Eva Davis, 82, of Bar Harbor.

No injuries were reported.

Southwest Harbor

An 18-year-old Southwest Harbor man was arrested Christmas Eve after he allegedly assaulted a girlfriend.

Brady Thomas was arrested on a domestic violence assault charge.

Earlier that same day, Thomas was issued a summons on a charge of operating after suspension.

Mary Swift, 61, of Tremont was summonsed Sunday on a speeding charge.

Alicia Briggs, 35, of Ellsworth was summonsed Dec. 23 on a charge of operating with an expired registration.

Mount Desert

Matthew Smullen, 33, of Holden was summonsed Saturday on a charge of operating after suspension.

Bar Harbor

Rogier Van Bakiel, 54, of Mount Desert, was summonsed Dec. 22 on a charge of criminal speeding.

Officer Larry Fickett on Saturday assisted removing an intoxicated woman from another person’s vehicle on Cottage Street.

Sgt. Shaun Farrar on Monday helped a person whose car had broken down on Holland Avenue.
