BAR HARBOR — A Florida man living in Southwest Harbor was arrested on multiple charges March 22 after allegedly driving on a sidewalk. Officer Soren Sundberg, who was off duty, said he saw a vehicle driving on the sidewalk on the Eagle Lake Road at 10:40 p.m. He alerted on-duty units and Mount Desert officer Leigh Guildford, who caught up with the vehicle on Route 102, arrested Adam Chavez, 37, of Micco, Florida, on charges of operating while under the influence (OUI) and operating without a license.
Unwanted signs attached to utility poles and on lawns on Mount Desert Street and Shannon Way were reported Friday, Sunday and Monday this week. They were similar, Lt. David Kerns said, to signs with sexually explicit language posted on Bayview Drive last week, signs which offended residents. He said police continue to remove the signs, and an investigation is ongoing.
James Murphy, 55, of Missouri was arrested just after midnight March 24 on a charge of OUI after being stopped on Cottage Street for allegedly driving without headlights on.

The sheriff’s department received a report around 6 a.m. that a vehicle was off the road, and no one was in the area. Deputies Jeff McFarland and Luke Gross responded, found a severely damaged 2000 Geo and then found the owner, 38-year-old Nikolaus Robbins, at his home in Trenton. Robbins was summonsed on a charge of failing to give notice of an accident by the quickest means.
According to the report, Robbins was southbound when he lost control of the vehicle on a left-hand curve. The Geo, which is considered a total loss, left the road and struck several trees. Robbins reportedly sustained minor cuts in the accident.
An argument Sunday at a Somesville residence resulted in the arrest of a Trenton woman.
Kathy Donovan, 41, was arrested on a domestic violence assault charge and on two active warrants charging her with failure to pay fines.
Police arrested a Mount Desert man March 23 for allegedly assaulting a family member. Everett Fontaine, 44, was arrested on charges of domestic violence assault and aggravated assault.
Brandon Thomas, 27, of Southwest Harbor was arrested Saturday on a charge of violating the conditions of his release.
According to Chief Alan Brown, Thomas’ bail conditions included that he comply with a curfew. Police performed bail checks at Thomas’ home on March 24 and again on Saturday. In both cases, Thomas was not at home and was in violation, Brown said. Thomas, at home later on Saturday, was taken into custody by Officer Levi Soper and transported to the Hancock County Jail in Ellsworth.
Michael Kelley, 44, of Mount Desert was summonsed Friday on a speeding charge.
A resident reported Monday that the same feral cat that bit her last year was back in her yard.
