BAR HARBOR — Snowy conditions contributed to several accidents on local roads Saturday. Jesse Couto, 27, of Trenton was traveling east on Crooked Road when he came across a snowdrift with his 2010 Chevy sedan and careered into the ditch, according to the report. The vehicle rolled onto its passenger side before coming to a rest. Couto suffered no injuries, while the vehicle sustained minor damage.
Also hitting a snowdrift on Crooked Road on Saturday was Alyssa Murad, 21, of Bar Harbor. Murad’s 2006 Subaru Forester ended in the ditch on the opposite side of the road after it encountered a drift and went out of control. The vehicle had minor damage from the wreck; Murad was not injured.
Also Saturday, on Route 3, Nicholas Applebee, 27, of Ellsworth was driving north when he encountered a slippery section of road and lost control of a 2002 Pontiac Grand Am, according to a report. The Pontiac skidded across the oncoming lane and hit a snowbank, overturning and ending up on its roof, reports state. The vehicle received reportable damage of over $1,000; Applebee escaped without injury.
Emergency responders assisted police with all three accidents.
Police responded to several downtown establishments with unruly patrons early Wednesday during St. Patrick’s Day revelry. One individual escorted from a Mount Desert Street pub was warned for criminal trespass and disorderly conduct, as he reportedly had refused to leave the establishment.
Nicholas Sosa, 23, was arrested March 18 at a Sand Point Road residence on a charge of domestic assault and was transported to Hancock County Jail.
Llewellyn Sullivan, 35, of Bar Harbor was arrested March 20 on a charge of operating while under the influence (OUI).
Whitney Duplisea, 18, of Bar Harbor was summonsed Saturday on a charge of possession of alcohol by a minor.
Duane Brooks, 50, of Mount Desert was arrested Saturday on a charge of OUI and was summonsed on a charge of operating after suspension.
Aaron Porter, 37, of Bar Harbor was arrested Sunday on a charge of OUI.
Zachariah Alfeled, 22, of Mount Desert was arrested March 17 on a charge of OUI.
Officer Christopher Wharff helped a driver whose vehicle was stuck in an Eden Street snowbank March 17. A tow truck removed the vehicle. Wharff assisted a driver with a broken-down vehicle in the same area several minutes later.
Officer Tim Frost helped a person with a malfunctioning wheelchair on Mount Desert Street on March 18.
An accident report last week stated that Elizabeth Blugerman, 53, of Bar Harbor struck a vehicle with her 2009 Nissan Versa while turning left off Eagle Lake Road onto Norway Drive March 10. According to reports, the other vehicle involved in the accident had encroached into Blugerman’s lane.
Police responded to two reports of missing persons.
On Friday, a woman called to ask police to locate her adult son. The man was found inside his vehicle parked at his home.
On March 18, the parents of a juvenile girl reported her missing. Officer Dana Austin located the girl and took her home.
Jason Levasseur, no age given, of Mount Desert was arrested March 18 on two active warrants.
Ambulance calls and dogs on the loose kept dispatchers here busy during the past week.
Police on March 19 gave a woman, reportedly intoxicated and wandering onto the road, a ride back to her home.
