SWANS ISLAND – A Swans Island man is in custody awaiting sentencing on a federal firearm charge.

Shaun Lemoine, 36, was booked into the Hancock County Jail in Ellsworth on Nov. 2. Earlier this year Lemoine pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court to one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Police executed a search warrant at Lemoine’s home in January 2014 and seized a .44 caliber rifle, a .22 caliber rifle and numerous rounds of ammunition. The rifles were loaded, according to court documents.

Lemoine’s criminal history includes felony convictions in federal court for receipt of a firearm by a person under indictment and, in state court, burglary and theft by unauthorized taking or transfer.

Lemoine faces up to 10 years in prison followed by three years of supervised release.
