SOUTHWEST HARBOR — A 28-year-old Southwest Harbor man was arrested Tuesday on a drug possession charge.
Jeremiah Cousins was arrested by Maine Drug Enforcement Agency (MDEA) agents and charged with unlawful possession of a scheduled drug.
The arrest stems from an incident in September where, during a traffic stop, Cousins was found in possession of heroin and crack cocaine, according to MDEA supervisor Corey Bagley.
“He wasn’t charged at the time,” Bagley said.
After review by an assistant attorney general, MDEA agents were given the go-ahead to charge Cousins, Bagley said. Cousins was not in possession of drugs when he was arrested, the agent added.
Cousins was taken to the Hancock County Jail in Ellsworth and later released on bail.
Southwest Harbor police assisted the MDEA at the scene.
