Police seek suspicious driver

TRENTON — The Hancock County Sheriff’s Department is seeking information about an incident Saturday in which a driver propositioned a young pedestrian to perform a sexual act.

A mother reported her son was walking along the Bayside Road shortly before 3 p.m. when a man in a dark green SUV with tinted windows stopped and made the request. The driver sped off when the boy refused.

The driver is described as between the ages of 35 and 50 with some facial hair but no mustache. He was wearing a “golf hat” with a brand name, perhaps “Titleist,” according to the sheriff’s department. The SUV might have been a Chevrolet Suburban.

Anyone with information regarding the incident or the vehicle involved is asked to call the sheriff’s department at 667-7575 or the crime tip line at 667-1401.
