Bar Harbor Police: Driver cited after crash

BAR HARBOR — The driver of a car that went off the road and struck a tree during snowy weather Friday was charged with operating while under the influence (OUI). Police say Jamie Goff, 26, of Westbrook was driving her 2007 Chevy sedan on Route 3 when it hit a slippery spot. She lost control of the vehicle. The Chevy went off the road into a wooded area and struck a tree head-on, according to reports. Goff and one passenger escaped injury.

Police responded to a number of motorists who had trouble on area roads during Friday’s storm. Lt. James Pinkham got a patrol car stuck on a property in Hulls Cove and had to be towed out.

Matthew Joy, 28, of Bar Harbor was arrested Jan. 7 during a traffic stop on a charge of violating the conditions of his release. Joy also was summonsed, on a charge of operating with an expired license.

Police were called to a business at the head of the island Jan. 6 after an intoxicated man fell outside of the store and struck his head. Witnesses reported that the man refused to stay for an ambulance that was called and drove away from the scene, according to reports. Police were not able to locate the vehicle nor the allegedly intoxicated driver.

On Jan. 6, Pinkham helped a motorist on Cottage Street with a car that would not start.

Police are investigating an unusual package received at the Hulls Cove Post Office Jan. 7.

Joseph Dennison, 34 of Bar Harbor was arrested Saturday at a Town Hill residence on a charge of domestic assault.

Officer Eric McLaughlin investigated a report of two boys walking on Eagle Lake Road Friday and found two juveniles who had left Mount Desert Island High School without permission. The errant youths were returned to school.

A driver who allegedly drove away after crashing into a road sign and fence was issued a summons on Jan. 6.

Leslie Ricker, 53, of Mount Desert was summonsed on a charge of failure to give notice of an accident by the quickest means.

Slippery road conditions Jan. 8 contributed to a rear-end collision at the traffic light in Somesville.

According to police, Guy Dunbar, 66, of Southwest Harbor was stopped at the light when his 2008 Dodge was struck from behind by a 2000 Chevrolet driven by Susan Parsley, 52, of Tremont. Both vehicles sustained minor damage.

Illegal drugs were found Saturday on Forest Avenue and turned into police for disposal. Inside a black cell phone case were hypodermic needles and suboxone.

Police are investigating the theft of several items from a business on Apple Lane.


A 25-year-old resident was arrested Sunday after the sheriff’s department responded to an altercation.

Michael Lambert was arrested on a domestic violence assault charge.

Only minor damage was reported to a 2012 Ford that struck two deer Jan. 7 on Route 3. The driver, Kendra McCrate, 43, of Mount Desert was not injured.

Nancy Lincoln, 68, of Tremont was issued a court summons by rangers at Seawall Campground on Dec. 30 on a charge of allowing a dog to roam off leash.
