BAR HARBOR — The Acadia Handbell Choir and the the Common Good Ukelele Band present a free concert Sunday, April 28, at 3 p.m. in the Mount Desert Island High School cafeteria.
Each group will play for about 30 minutes.
The purpose of the concert is to honor Mary Gilliland, director of the handbell choir, who is recovering from a short illness. Gilliland is also a member of the ukelele band.
The Acadia Handbell Choir, now together for 40 years, rehearses Mondays in Somesville. They perform a variety of music, from classical to songs from children’s movies, and has performed at libraries, senior living facilities, churches and weddings.
The Common Good Ukelele Band plays Sunday mornings during the winter and summer from 10-11 a.m. at the Common Good Café in Southwest Harbor.
