Church hires Hudson



BAR HARBOR — Rene Colson Hudson has been hired as the director of Christian education at the Bar Harbor Congregational Church.

Hudson has experience both in and beyond the local church. She has directed and promoted Christian education since 1991, working extensively with children, youth and families, and more recently has worked in contemplative spirituality. As the founding director of the Anam Cara Group, a spiritual direction and retreat practice, she has extensive experience in contemplative practice. Through her kind, authentic and relational work, she encourages people of all ages to pursue deeper relationships with God and with one another.

Prior to moving to Maine this past summer, Hudson served as chaplain at Riverview estates, a long-term care community in Riverton, N.J. Before that, she served for nearly 12 years as pastor of First Baptist Church in Moorestown, N.J. She holds ordained standing in the American Baptist Churches USA.

Hudson and her family now live in Deer Isle. She and her husband, Gordon, have three daughters: Sophie, a first-year student at UMO; Anwen, a seventh-grader; and Hallie, who’s in sixth grade.
