BAR HARBOR — Fisherman Jon Carter was recognized in a Town Council resolution this week for his decades of service as chair of the town’s Harbor Committee.

He served on the committee for more than 20 years, Harbormaster Charlie Phippen said, with most of those years as chair.

“In his service to the community, Jon is held in high esteem by his peers,” the resolution states, “and was instrumental in establishing many of the policies and ordinances affecting the use of the waters of the Town.”

Carter is lauded as impartial and open-minded, traits which “helped to guide the Harbor Committee in a positive and productive direction.”

Carter also has served on committees for the Maine Department of Marine Resources, including the Zone B Council, the Lobster Advisory Council and the DMR Advisory Council.
