MOUNT DESERT — Camp Beech Cliff, in collaboration with area businesses and individuals, is offering a variety of items in the “Bids for Kids!” online holiday auction Nov. 19 through Dec. 7.

The annual fundraiser for summer camp programs is “feel good, do good shopping,” said Director of Development Michele Marks, who explained that “Bidders purchase unique gifts, promote our local businesses community, and help give kids an experience that will last a lifetime.”

“One of our primary goals at Camp Beech Cliff is to get kids outdoors, having fun and learning new things and we are pleased to be able to feature that kind of experience in our auction as well,” said Debra Deal, executive director.

Over 700 campers, 61 percent local residents, attended Camp Beech Cliff last summer. The nonprofit summer camp relies on the community’s annual support to help keep camp affordable, provide free transportation and give big smiles and life changing moments to campers ages 5-14.

More than 100 donated items in all price ranges and for all ages are listed on the auction website, www.biddingforgood.com/campbeechcliff, including fine dining, gift certificates, children’s items, lodging, jewelry, spa treatments, fine art and custom MDI adventures personalized for a family or small group.

Some featured items are a meticulously restored classic 1963 Old Town Octa wood canoe; a Redline BMX bike; a Surfside, California, condo; a high ropes challenge course experience; a geology field trip; and a golf outing. New items will be added daily.

The camp is grateful to the individuals and businesses who donated generously and gives special thanks to silver sponsors, EBS Building Supplies, Maine Paper & Janitorial Products and E.L. Shea; and bronze sponsors, Bangor Savings Bank, All Star Graphics and Darlings Auto Mall.

Marks hopes that bidders will bid high and often to raise $10,000 for the children and families the camp serves. She also encourages bidders to use the live link on each auction item to visit the donors website and patronize the local businesses “who give so much to Camp Beech Cliff and the children, families and communities we serve.”

Camp Beech Cliff is a 501(c)3 charitable organization whose mission is to enrich the lives of people of all ages through its summer camps and year-round outdoor education and recreation programs inspiring personal growth, connections among people and an appreciation of the natural world.
