BAR HARBOR — Jacquie Colburn has joined the Bar Harbor Savings and Loan Association as their new compliance administrator. Ardette Spear will assume the responsibilities of internal IT specialist.
Colburn will monitor policy and procedures to maintain bank compliance with federal and state requirements and perform due-diligence reviews of vendors to protect the interests of the bank and customers.
“Having a compliance administrator on board allows the bank to be proactive as regulations change,” said Vicky Vendrell, senior vice president and treasurer.
Colburn received her bachelor and master’s degrees from the University of Connecticut and has been coming to the Mount Desert Island area since she was a child.
“My husband and I both wanted to live in a small community, and we enjoy hiking and biking in Acadia. We are delighted to be living and working here, and the community has been very welcoming,” Colburn said. She has worked as a volunteer with the United Way and several environmental nonprofit organizations and hopes to offer her skills to the conservation commission, as well as other environmental groups on MDI.
Spear has worked for the bank since 1988.
“Ardette has the interest and skills to help with monitoring our online presences,” said Bill Weir, president and CEO. Spear’s responsibilities include troubleshooting computer and information systems and assisting with local network systems.
