BAR HARBOR — Lynne Raimondo joined the Jesup Memorial Library board of directors in January.

Raimondo is an attorney-turned-mystery writer, who has published three critically acclaimed novels: “Dante’s Wood,” “Dante’s Poison” and “Dante’s Dilemma.” Raimondo said, “I am delighted to be appointed to the board and look forward to helping the Jesup continue and expand on its record of outstanding service to the Bar Harbor area.”

As a writer and avid reader, Raimondo is passionate about public libraries and the vital role they play in serving and enriching their communities. “Libraries have been a source of joy for me my entire life. As a child, I thrilled to the children’s collection of my small local library and still remember with pride the day I was deemed mature enough to graduate to the adult volumes upstairs,” she said. “Back then, libraries were primarily a place to borrow books. Today, they see their mission much more broadly – bringing patrons together through programming that enriches community life in multiple ways.”

She received her bachelor’s and juris doctor degrees from New York University. During her legal career, she was general counsel of Arthur Andersen LLP and general counsel of the Illinois Department of Revenue.

Raimondo splits her time between her homes in Somesville and Evanston, Ill., where she lives with her husband.
