Bar Harbor voters support bonds

BAR HARBOR — Voters here strongly supported the proposed $85 million state transportation bond issue that includes funds for the purchase of the former ferry terminal. The transportation bond, Question 3, received the largest margin of the three questions with 924 “yes” votes and 129 “no.”

Bar Harbor voters also passed the other two statewide questions on the ballot.

Question 1, whether to increase public financing for political campaigns, received 769 “yes” votes and 291 “no.”

Question 2, a bond to provide matching funds for the construction of energy-efficient homes and weatherization projects for senior housing, also won support here. It had 866 “yes” votes and 188 “no.”

Town Clerk Pat Gray reported turnout was about 25 percent, with 1064 of the town’s 4209 registered voters casting absentee or regular ballots.
