TRENTON — Public bus service between Bar Harbor and Ellsworth has increased to four round-trips each weekday, up from one in recent years.
“The new schedule offers passengers more choices and improved convenience,” said Downeast Transportation Executive Director Paul Murphy.
Northbound buses depart Malvern-Belmont Apartments at 7:15 a.m., 9:05 a.m., 11:05 a.m. and 1:05 p.m. Southbound buses depart Ellsworth City Hall at 8 a.m., 9:55 a.m., 11:55 a.m., 1:55 p.m. and 3:15 p.m. Other Ellsworth stops include Walmart, Reny’s and the Maine Coast Mall. The round-trip fare costs $6.
The expanded Ellsworth-Bar Harbor service includes stops at The Jackson Laboratory in Bar Harbor and at the new Jackson Lab facility in Ellsworth. The service is designed in part to help lab employees who need to travel during the day between the two facilities.
