Backpack support

BAR HARBOR — The Bar Harbor Food Pantry’s backpack program was the recipient of a donation from Bar Harbor Bank & Trust.

Each week, bank directors and employees contribute to a fund in exchange for being able to dress casually on Fridays. Those funds and an even match from the bank are disbursed monthly to a nonprofit chosen by employee of a different bank location.

The food pantry was the recipient of July’s Community Commitment funds, which were used to buy food like raisins, applesauce, canned fruit, granola bars and other foods that can be sent home on weekends with students who otherwise might go hungry.
