Assault suspect collared

BAR HARBOR — The Hancock County Sheriff’s Department assisted Bar Harbor police in taking into custody the suspect in a Nov. 30 domestic assault.

The victim did not report the crime until the following day. By then, the suspect, 30-year-old Dana Austin, was no longer at the residence. Sheriff’s deputies located him in Franklin on Dec. 1 and arrested him on a domestic violence assault charge.

According to police, Austin’s address is listed as Franklin, but he was living with the victim in Bar Harbor.

A bicyclist was treated Dec. 1 at Mount Desert Island Hospital for broken bones as the result of a collision with a car at the intersection of Cottage Street and Holland Avenue.

Mariana Cadena-Robles, 22, of Bar Harbor was riding a bicycle without lights at around 7 p.m. on Cottage Street when an oncoming 2016 Subaru driven by Kathleen Woodside, 64, also of Bar Harbor, made a left turn onto Holland Avenue, striking the bicycle.

Police said no one was charged. Total damage is estimated at more than $1,000.

Sgt. Chris Wharff quickly solved a stolen car case reported Friday on Main Street. The officer went to the scene and found the vehicle, which had not been stolen, parked about 200 feet from where the owner said she left it.

A resident reported Nov. 29 that she had been scammed out of $800 in an attempt to purchase a computer on Craigslist.

Southwest Harbor

A Trenton man was arrested Saturday after a woman reported she had been harassed while attending a public function.

Delwin Faulkingham, 46, was arrested on a domestic violence assault charge.

Police are trying to locate the person responsible for leaving two dead chickens behind Gott’s Store on Friday.

A woman reported Nov. 30 that she returned to her unlocked car after meditating at her favorite spot to discover that medications had been stolen from the vehicle.

A minor could face alcohol-related charges as the result of an investigation into a disturbance Sunday at a home on the Seawall Road.

Police said “distracted driving” led to a single-vehicle accident Nov. 29 on the Seawall Road.

Dale Pollard, 25, of Orland was driving a 2003 Pontiac, which left the road and struck a fence and a tree.

Mount Desert

An unoccupied 2012 Subaru sustained damage after it rolled Sunday into a concrete wall at the Northeast Harbor Wastewater Treatment Plant. The driver, 59-year-old David Higgins of Mount Desert, had just got out of the car when it began to roll.

John Lanpher Jr., 60, of Southwest Harbor was driving a 2000 Jeep on Route 102 in Somesville Nov. 30 when the vehicle struck a deer in the roadway.


Jordan Kneeland, 34, who police list as a transient, was arrested Nov. 30 on charges of theft of services and violating conditions of his release.

The sheriff’s department is investigating a Nov. 30 complaint from a business that customers were trying to pawn items that might have been stolen.

Acadia National Park

On Nov. 30, rangers summonsed Colin Preston Lynch, 21, of Maryland on a charge of illegally skateboarding on the Park Loop Road.

On Dec. 2, a Bar Harbor woman was warned against allowing her dog to run off leash at Compass Harbor.
