Ash borer workshop set

ACADIA NAT’L PARK — Acadia and the Maine Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry will hold a public workshop March 7 to demonstrate how to peel the bark of ash trees to look for the emerald ash borer, an invasive insect that kills trees it infests.

Demonstrations will be ongoing from 8:30 a.m. until mid-afternoon in the fire engine bay in the heated garage at park headquarters.

“With the emerald ash borer now documented in Maine, it becomes even more important to track its movement and prevent its spread into new locations,” a park news release said.
