‘Addiction’ author will speak at Jesup

BAR HARBOR — Steven Kassels, M.D., author of “Addiction on Trial: Tragedy in Downeast Maine,” will be at the Jesup Memorial Library on Friday, Oct. 10, at 7 p.m. to read from and sign copies of his novel.

Dr. Kassels is board certified in addiction medicine and emergency medicine, and it is from this background and experience that wove medical and behavioral aspects of addiction into the intrigue of this thriller, which culminates in a riveting murder trial.

“Who wants to read another scientific book about addiction? Not me! That’s why I wrote the book as a mystery thriller – to both entertain and educate through the depiction of the realistic struggles of addiction,” said Dr. Kassels.

“Addiction on Trial” is the first in a planned series of Shawn Marks thrillers revolving around the murder cases of Attorney Marks, an egotistical yet likable Boston attorney who juggles an array of female companions without taking his eye off the legal challenges of his work.

This special event is cosponsored by Sherman’s Bookstore. Copies of the book will be available for purchase at the Jesup that evening with a percentage of sales donated to the library.

Call the library at 288-4245 or email [email protected]
