Accident sends two to hospital

MOUNT DESERT — Two people were hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries Friday evening following a two-car accident on Route 102, police said.

A 2003 Saab operated by Liam King, 25, of Bar Harbor pulled off of Beech Hill Cross Road into the path of the other vehicle, according to reports. It was a 2015 Buick Enclave being operated by Erin Perry, 30, of Enfield. Mount Desert police arrived at the accident scene at 7:50 p.m.

A section of route 102 was closed and traffic was routed onto Pretty Marsh Road while the accident scene was reconstructed by Sgt. Chad Wilmont of the Ellsworth Police Department.

The Southwest Harbor-Tremont Ambulance Service, Mount Desert Fire Department, Northeast Harbor Ambulance Service, Bar Harbor Fire Department, Southwest Harbor Fire Department, Tremont Volunteer Fire Department, Southwest Harbor Police Department and Acadia National Park rangers assisted at the scene of the crash and with traffic control.
