Abbott-Croan was recognized for her service to the Mount Desert Island High School Interact Club, the Hancock County SPCA and other clubs and organizations.

President Sue Kropff was awarded another Paul Harris Fellowship, and Joseph Losquadro received the Rotarian of the Year Award for his exceptional updating of the club’s databases, bulletin and websites, and for ensuring its compliance with Rotary International’s bylaws and constitutional changes.

Under Kropff’s leadership, the club received the district’s Turkey Award for membership, District Governor’s Citation and prestigious silver Rotary International Presidential Citation.

In the past year, Rotarians have launched the Bar Harbor Kids Book Festival, fundraised and fit wheelchairs for people in Belize, managed the 44th Annual Fourth of July Seafood Festival and Pancake Breakfast that fed thousands. It also distributed local scholarships, fought polio, supported the Park Street Playground Project via numerous events as well as fundraising and volunteer support, raised money to fight human trafficking, increased awareness of human trafficking via the free movie “Sold,” and supported the local food pantry and other local food programs. The club also supported an international inoculation program, worked with the MDI High School Interact Club, which included chaperoning the club’s visit to Rotary Day at the United Nations, supported local nonprofits and programs, cleaned up roadside debris and volunteered countless hours supporting the community on boards or through volunteer hours.
