Winter tales wanted

BAR HARBOR — “Maine Winter Tale/Tail” is the theme of the Words Unleashed story slam, the first of 2018, at the Jesup Memorial Library on Friday, Jan. 19, at 7 p.m.

Members of the public are welcome to stop by and share their true, first-person stories that interpret the theme, or to listen to others tell their tales. Jeff Miller will be master of ceremonies.

Those familiar with “The Moth” broadcast on NPR will recognize the format. These are true stories told live. Stories must be the teller’s own and told in the first person. Stories should be no more than five minutes long. At the end of each slam, the theme of the next slam is chosen by the audience.

Jesup story slams are held every other month throughout the year, alternating with Verse Unleashed poetry slams. Contact the Jesup Memorial Library at 288-4245 or [email protected]
