BASS HARBOR — The Winter Concert Series continues at the Barn with Saturday’s headliner Big Tree, a trio featuring Southwest Harbor-based songwriter and performer Bowen Swersey with bassist Jarly Bobadilla and fiddle phenomenon Gus LaCasse, with special guest Curtis Russet or Shirt Tail Kin.
Swersey is a prolific songwriter, poet and novelist whose first play, “Pandemonium,” premiered at the Barn last June. His music bridges the genres of folk, rock and world beat. His former band, The Beatroots, sold more than 2,000 discs in Maine. With the solid bass playing of native Cuban Jarly Bobadilla and the fire and passion of fiddler Gus LaCasse,
Big Tree will bring these songs and some seldom-heard covers to life at the Barn.
Opening the show with an acoustic set is Curtis Russet, the frontman for Shirt Tail Kin, the new group from Downeast Maine, whose new album, “Face And A Name“ was released this fall.
The show is $15 and space is limited. Tickets can be purchased through Evenbrite or at the door.
Barn Arts is a local non-profit arts organization with a mission to bring people together for live events. The Barn is located at 130 Tremont Road, Bass Harbor.
