‘Uptown’ art walk

BAR HARBOR — September’s art walk on Friday, Sept. 2, will follow the theme “Art meets fashion.”

Art walkers are encouraged to dress up and stroll through town to admire art and fine craft at 19 participating galleries, shops and other venues.

Many of the events will feature fashion, such as the D’Alessio Gallery’s “Fashion is Art” opening.

A Little Mad is celebrating five years in business by dressing up the shop and featuring unique art, jewelry and handbags. Just across the courtyard, Hush will debut the Mona B fall apparel and accessories collection. Anne Woodman will be in her shop making her whimsical jewelry while people watch, and Spruce & Gussy will showcase true Down East fashion with the work of six Maine jewelers.

Other events include Andrew Cook from “Lobstering is an Art” at The Maine Lobster, Robert Jay’s collection of paintings of local places called “Neighbors” at Jesup Memorial Library and a showing of quilted thread paintings by Barbara Binotto at Island Artisans.

Walking maps are available at participating venues, the Bar Harbor Chamber of Commerce and most lodging establishments. Visit artwalkbarharbor.com or call 288-2454.
